Ok, before you call Child Welfare, I promise it’s not dog food
My kids love to make a recipe called “Puppy Chow”. I’ve also heard it called Muddy Buddies, and Gertrude Hawk sells something similar at Christmas time called “Reindeer food”.
It’s really simple and really addicting.
It is actually supposed to be a little less white than in our picture,
the kids got carried away with the powdered sugar.
Here’s the recipe to make your own “Puppy Chow”
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 bag (12 oz) chocolate chips
3/4 cup peanut butter
6 cups Chex cereal (we use the good old generic rice squares cereal)
2 cups confectioners sugar
1.Place cereal in a large bowl.
2. In a saucepan over low heat, stir together butter and chocolate chips until melted.
3. Remove from heat. Stir in Peanut butter and mix until smooth.
4. Pour over cereal. Stir gently until cereal is all covered.
5. In a CLEAN garbage bag, pour in the powdered sugar. Then pour in the cereal mixture. Twist the top shut and shake until cereal is well coated.
6. Scoop into individual baggies or store in an air tight container at room temperature.
This is a fun recipe that the kids can do mostly themselves (with the exception of the stove).
Alex is determined he wants to be a Chef or just a food “taster”, he told me the other night.
On the subject of food (sort of). We were gathered around the dinner table the other night and Niyah wanted to say grace. She bowed her head and thanked God for the food, her family, and friends, and then, in finishing, said….
“And they all lived happily ever after….Amen”
