Ives Run '15...Part 1... Sand Castles

We camped at Ives Run with Mom and Dad this past weekend. We had a very nice time and it didn't rain! (It usually rains when we go to Ives Run). Early Saturday morning we decided to walk to the swimming area. We saw a man building an ornate sand castle. We struck up a conversation while watching him for a bit. We learned that he had been in the sand castle business (who knew there was such a thing!) for 10 years, building castles for organizations and events. He showed us a few tricks of the trade and then asked Niyah if he could sculpt her head. What an honor!

He wanted to make it look like her head was the side of a
mountain near the castle and her open mouth was the entrance to a cave.

He had so many little tools, lots of them household items, that he used to be so meticulous.

The finished result! Quite a likeness!

Thank you Mr. Schwartz for giving us such a unique and exciting experience!

I wanted to guard the castle for the rest of the day to make sure no hoodlums knocked it down.
To my surprise, most of it was still standing the following day.

Niyah had such fun showing other swimmers, "Hey, that's my head!"
