Advent

We are continuing our advent tradition of an activity each day of December until Christmas.
I made the mistake of changing our banner this year to a more sophisticated version. It lasted about 2 days, the kids hated it. So we went back to our traditional "FUN" banner.
The kids love the banner with the red and green envelopes and the anticipation of opening one every night.

Each night we do something different. Some of our activities have included...

  • Spaghetti Dinner using "weird" utensils (i.e. a whisk, a potato masher, etc) chosen at random from a bag
  • A scavenger hunting leading to a note saying that we are going out to dinner
  • Red and green Christmas milkshakes
  • Indoor picnic
  • Make a ginger bread house
  • Take donations to an animal shelter and visit play with the animals
  • Make paper snowflakes and decorate every window in the house
  • Bake something yummy with Mommy
  • Make Bird feeders out of pine cones and peanut butter
  • Do a Random Act of Kindness for someone
  • Watch a Christmas movie with homemade caramel popcorn
  • Have a camp out around the Christmas Tree
  • Ring the bell for The Salvation Army
  • Make Rootbeer Floats
  • Everyone picks a favorite Christmas book for Mommy and Daddy to read aloud
  • Gather canned goods to take to the local food pantry
  • ALL ABOARD the MiniVan Express!! This envelope is filled with tickets to board the mini van express, complete with popcorn and cocoa for a trip around town to look at Christmas lights.
  • Bake a Birthday cake for Jesus
